A flimsy piece of junk! - G. Williams - Lewisville, NC
This machine is a total waste of money if you just want to break the leaves. It will take something much bigger. I have had numerous problems and carburetor is very difficult to work with. I recommend looking elsewhere

I will not buy another one - Thomas L. Mcclelan - tacoma
I have a 1998 version of this shredder for eight years, owned and finally gave away. I am planning a Bearcat 8HP or similar (more robust upgrade) shredder.

I have 2.1 acres of Douglas fir trees, the branches fall in storms, like those tend met on December 14. I had to remove the ivy and blackberries, I knew that a blue bin waste site 2x a month would never intersect. I bought my shredder at the local Home Depot, especially since I did not know what else is outthere, and it seemed a good product (for now).

I discovered over the years that really only wear a very light car, and uses it quite easily. I just did my use 2-4 times a year, if I built a battery, but everything that can be worn has.

The axis for the two wheels through the base plate, which has just folded sheet, without being taken to the axle. As a result, the longitudinal axis vibrationHoles so that properly deleted from the disk.

The feeding tube for small branches up to 2 "in diameter. It works well until the industry push down. Once the branch is long about 18", take the leaves not only the stick and bite them, and itstead jump type, the slide. Finally, it may, in micro-bits to eat, but you're probably better off just pulling the rest out and put it in the pile of firewood.

The large hopper forLeaves and small branches is a plastic tip-off. Has made only two slides intelligent longer than a human arm in order to prevent idiots from sticking their fingers in the blade. But the molded-in stresses on the slide caused great stress cracks on the four corners. I had replaced a slip through the cracks, while it is under warranty, the new slide and quickly developed the same type of cracks.

The discharge chute is molded and welded sheet-Spotand developed stress cracks from vibration, welding, and finally yielded. There are manual controls to loosen the bolts holding the discharge chute in place, and I was well acquainted with them. The screen that large blocks of stops for rechopping is a set of four measures by which the range of flail three fingers to all that was too big to fly to the grave. Unfortunately, the metal was used in the screen, so soft and elastic, has quickly grown fromconvex to concave, so that accumulated debris just outside the reach of the flagellum. This means that I had to close, open the parachute (Which remain, not his, but falls on the hands), then there is a large screw or pin with a hammer the two pins on the screen. Once I pulled away the debris and collect from Got That screen, I would 180 degrees so that the convex side facing new scourge of loose-leaf, and reassemble. I have gone through three screens in eightYears of metal because they like to be bent back and forth, as is very often (think of bending a coat hanger wire) and finally breaks. Need a screen for Hitachi to get up the strength of wood chips Suggest.

The shredder blades are not sharpened slightly, and my attempts resulted in a terrible car unbalanced. You should also remove completely the big slide for access knife grinder, where the nuts off of 6 eyes, do not be online again at the topwell with the case when I tried to mount again. The housing also developed stress cracks in plastic, so that is the wheel arch scrap metal prices.

Vibrations caused to break even the gas tank mounting slots so that the plastic tank was not replaced in time have been taken away from me. The engine was still going well, although I have the carburetor after the old had to replace clogged with gunk, and some work to rebuild not kits. AnotherIt 'was interesting that the vibration characteristics of the machine to "go" wanted, so I had to dig a hole in the ground, which in one way it is not removed from where I was sitting with excursions.

The unit came with a mesh bag to catch the chips, but was so small that I never used. The chips are flying so fast that travel 30-40 feet, if for some kind of attack.

Overall, this crushing do what the advertisement says that works, butsimply does not do much without a lot of attention, TLC, and swearing. Fortunately, it makes so much noise that the oath to be heard by others, when done, while it is running. If you just want to break the maple leaves in one or two times a year, this may be OK, provided you have some mechanical aptitude. But for me, I'm happy to leave me, that contraption behind fragile as a regrettable chapter in my life.
